You know those desserts that claim to be healthy? You check out the recipe and it has a zillion obscure ingredients you have never heard of and the even sound “too healthy” to be yummy!

I totally get it! So here is the thing… Everyone should be striving to be healthier these days. There is way too much information out there to claim “ignorance”. We know we need whole foods that are nutrient dense. We know we should eat smaller meals throughout the day in order to keep our body fueled and our metabolism ramped up.

What is the struggle? Well, we don’t actually WANT to do it because there is a sigma that “healthy” has to be bland and boring! This is false! If you know me well, you would know I have a massive sweet tooth and love anything that has been created in the bakery section of the grocery store. Listen, I used to be 70 pounds heavier than I am right now. Apple fitters and chocolate bars were my besties for most of my life. I ate my way through my rough childhood and food was my remedy for all things! Trust me, I get it!

Now fast forward to today! I am still all about the sweets. Just because you lose weight and get healthy doesn’t mean that you don’t battle the same cravings. I totally do! Instead of depriving myself of sweet treats, I have made it my hobby to take my favorite treats and make the healthy while still being freaking delicious!

What are my favorites? COOKIE DOUGH!

Chocolate chip cookie dough, brownie batter, cake batter, sugar cookie dough, peanut butter cookie dough….You name it, I’ll eat it.

Okay, that’s a lie! I won’t stuff my face with sugar packed batter and doughs anymore. My family needs me to be my best and live a long and healthy life. So instead, I create recipes at home that I can feel good about eating and feeding to my munchkins and hubby.

How are MY recipes different than the rest of the zillions of “healthy recipes” out there? I add protein! Most Americans are not getting enough protein to support their lean body mass (muscle) and metabolism. So if you are one of those millions of Americans that say, “My metabolism is slowing down with age, that’s normal right?” STOP and listen carefully. Yes, it’s “normal” but it’s not okay! Without adequate amounts of protein in your diet, you will begin losing muscle pound by pound every year. This is SCARY! You resting metabolic rate slows down and your body feels weak, you have less energy, your bones start to hurt more and you gain weight.

A major part of the remedy? Add protein to every meal throughout the day. I suggest enjoying 20-30 grams (depending on the individual) every 2-4 hours. Yes, that’s a lot! You need it, trust me. Need more info about this? No worries, I get it. Comment or email me and I can help you.

Okay, let’s get back to it!

I’m sure you are on the edge of your seat for the recipes right? Fear not! Here we go!
